LESLIE H. SMITH

Practice Description
Leslie is a co-founder of the firm. She concentrates her practice on trademarks, copyrights, licenses, and related matters.  Her practice includes:

  • Providing advice on the selection of trademarks, service marks, and trade names
  • Filing and prosecuting trademark, service mark, and copyright applications
  • Counseling on the proper use of registered trademarks, service marks and copyrights
  • Overseeing the filing and prosecution of foreign trademark and service mark applications worldwide
  • Prosecuting and defending trademark and service mark opposition and cancellation proceedings
  • Performing reviews of marketing materials and web sites
  • Policing client trademarks and service marks
  • Conducting training sessions on various intellectual property issues
  • Negotiating and preparing a wide variety of agreements, including license agreements and security agreements

In addition, Leslie advises clients on issues involving contests and sweepstakes.

Bar Admissions
Leslie is admitted to practice by the Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court of New Jersey, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Educational and Professional Background
Leslie received her B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College in 1987 (Honors list/Dean’s list all semesters).  She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1990, and thereafter practiced law at the firm of Ballard Spahr Andrews and Ingersoll, LLP until 1998, when she left to form LIACOURAS & SMITH, LLP.
